Individual Therapy

  • Trauma Therapy

Suffering trauma can truly alter your life. You may find yourself feeling triggered by different things, have sudden memories you don’t want to have, nightmares, anxiety, trouble sleeping, or feeling on edge — all of these are symptoms of trauma.

When we experience a trauma, it can cause us to have certain beliefs and this can affect our relationship with ourselves and others.

Sometimes we believe if we don’t think about it (trauma), it will just go away and it won’t affect us. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Trauma affects us even if we try to not think about it.

There is a big link between our mind and our body and when we experience trauma, it negatively affects this connection.

Our bodies have mechanisms that it uses to protect us and when you experience trauma, these mechanisms may be told to work, when they don’t need to — such as being in a constant state of vigilance and this can be exhausting.

Finding healing from trauma looks different for everyone. We’ll work together to discover what healing means to you. It may mean finding ways to cope, finding ways to feel safe in the world again or changing the beliefs that the trauma caused.

  • Therapy for Eating Disorders

You may find yourself focusing a lot on eating a certain amount of food or calories, only eating certain types food or exercising mainly to lose weight.

You may find yourself eating past fullness to the point it’s uncomfortable.

Or you may struggle to eat a variety of foods due to sensory reasons or fear of what can happen if you eat certain foods.

Whichever is your experience, when we have a troubled relationship with food, it can cause an internal battle with ourselves and it can make life miserable.

It can affect how you interact and view yourself. You may even notice not wanting to eat around others or isolating yourself.

We’ll focus on discovering what a healthier relationship with food looks like for you, liberating your mind from food rules that aren’t serving you and adapting healthy behaviors.

  • Therapy for Body Image

Have you noticed feeling unhappy with your body or constantly wanting to change it? Sometimes this can create a vicious cycle where you are judging and being unkind to yourself and mainly focusing on ways to change your body.

I get it. We live in a world where some bodies are idealized and others as deemed as “unworthy” and this can impact our relationship with our bodies. Sometimes even past trauma can affect how we feel about our bodies.

We live in our body everyday and if you are constantly thinking about your body, ways to change it, ways it’s not “right”, your mind isn’t able to focus on other areas of your life since it is already preoccupied. And this can cause distress in your day to day life, which can impact your self esteem and interactions with the world.

Our work will focus on rebuilding trust with your body, freeing your mind from these body beliefs so your mind is free to think and experience other parts of life.
