Eating Disorder Therapy
Whether you struggle with eating or body image, it can affect your day to day life, making life miserable. Sometimes this shows up as having a lot of rigid rules and beliefs about food, exercise, or the way your body looks or how “it should look.” It can affect different areas of your life, including how you view yourself or how you navigate the world. When we live so many rules and beliefs, it can create a vicious cycle where you are judging yourself and beating yourself up when you don’t follow certain rules.
I get it. We live in a world where we are told to not trust ourselves and our own experience and to rather rely on other systems to tell us what to eat, when to eat, etc. We also live in a world where we are told to change our bodies and some bodies are idealized and others aren’t. Even past experiences and trauma’s can affect our relationship with food and our bodies.
For some, your relationship with food might feel troubled because it is more sensory related, you might not have much interest in food or have fear of what can happen after you eat.
And for others, you might’ve noticed struggling with eating past fullness, where you feel you struggle to stop eating even when it’s uncomfortable. You may think or have been told you have to limit your eating, but a lot of times when you are eating past fullness, it is because you aren’t eating enough throughout the day.
Through our work together, we’ll focus on discovering what an improved relationship with food looks like for you and experiencing less “food noise” that can happen.
Our work will focus on rebuilding trust with your body, freeing your mind from these body beliefs so your mind is free to think and experience other parts of life.
